The Spirits of Wickwar Brewery

By the GBHW  paranormal investigation team

The managing director Ray Penny offered us a chance to carry out an investigation, in Wickwar Brewery, following reports of strange happenings in this old building.
A date was set for the investigation on Saturday night 24th March.

Three other guests included, Lucy, Julie and dean, from another local paranormal group. The Night Walkers.    www.thenightwalkers.co.uk

We split up into three separate groups, who rotated between areas on the different  floor levels, and the main reception area.
At the end of the investigation all three groups gave their own accounts and findings.
They were all consistent with names that came through to each group on each of the buildings floor levels

In the main reception area

Equipment: Night vision video cameras, digital cameras, CCTV recording equipment.

The name Michael a clerk from around the 18th century, also there was a young girl who gave her name as Madeleine, about 12 years old She died of scarlet fever.  She feels that her father owned the building at some time; she said her grand father was French.  There is also a young boy she plays with called Elliott.
We have photos of orbs in this area.  The video footage from the cctv shows some form of light formation
We have our views on this, what do you think?

Brewing areas & Mezzanine
On the mezzanine, there appeared to be a gollum like creature crouching on top of a large tank. He is described as being deformed, greyish in colour with a frightened look on his face. This person was clearly seen by one of the group. Asked for more proof of his existence, a pen top was thrown across the room. He didn't seem to want us there.
Later that evening, a similar feeling was experienced by another person in another group, on a higher level, on this occasion he did not show him self. He seemed to be an outcast from the rest of the community and workers. It seemed that on one occasion he took a beating, which would explain his aggressiveness towards us.  There was an uneasy feeling up there, of get out or be pushed out, we took the safe option and left the area.

    Rays Music room
We spent some time in this room. The energy of a male was picked up.  He seemed to have breathing problems, very breathless probably due to his working environment handling Hessian sacks full of hops.  He worked on passed his retirement age and was paid a pittance for this.  His wife also worked as a washerwoman come tea lady, and due to working in a damp environment they suffered from trench foot.
There was also a 19year male there, a grand son of a local business known as what sounds like Goff or Gough.  He worked there from the age of 14 now a 19 year old, only had one eye due to an accident with a hook used to handle the sacks of hops.

The Séance
We held a séance on one of the upper floors, which confirmed most of the findings of the group as a whole.

Confirmation of Michael as being a clerk there, as Ray still uses his desk in his office.
Ray can verify the findings, as he was a participant in the séance.
It also came to light that there was a lady killed in a railway accident, who we thought to be the wife of Michael, and possibly the girl Madeleine who came through on the stairs was a close relation to them.
It also transpires that Michael had met Isinbard kingdom Brunel at some time.  But we could not determine if Brunel had anything to do with the design or construction of the brewery, as it is now known.

The GBHW Team would like to convey our thanks to Ray Penny Managing director of Wickwar Brewery.
Many thanks to
Lucy, Julie and Dean of the Nightwalkers paranormal group, also thanks to Tim and Adam, who very kindly joined us on this investigation.
A detailed report from the Night Walkers group to follow at a later date.
