Twyne House

Seaford

Sussex

Seaford’s parish workhouse was located on the site of the mediaeval leper hospital of St John’s.  The Master resided in Twyne house and his assistant in Twyne cottage.

This house is reported to be very active by the present residents.  A relation of one of our members, who invited us to carry out an investigation into the paranormal activities at Twyne house.

We have waited with anticipation for the day to visit this old house to conduct and our own investigation.

We arrived on Saturday evening and were greeted by Wayne and Charlotte (present owners) and their son Jesse, who couldn’t wait to tell us all about the ghostly goings on since they have lived there.  Also present were Charlotte’s father Dennis and her two nephews, Daniel and Mathew.

This is one scary old house reputed to be haunted with ghosts and spirits from the past, which we were about to be confronted with.

There are dark shadows of people, which have been seen to be standing over you, watching you.  Their son Jesse has spoken of a large figure appearing in his bedroom.  He has now moved into another bedroom, as he does not feel safe in this room.  There are knocks and bangs that cannot be explained.  Ornaments have been jettisoned across the room and smashed on the floor.  Charlotte has seen shadows moving through the corridor only to disappear through the wall in the direction of what used to be the old courtyard and leprosy hospital.

There has been from time to time a distinct shadowy outline of a person hanging from the old wooden beams in the main bedroom, and the smell of wax.  Yet there is nothing in the room to explain this smell.  Their young pup has even been pushed or dragged across the floor with no visible signs of how or why.  Their older dog will not go into the bar area, no matter how you try to coax him in there.  We tried to push him toward the doorway, but he was defiant he was not going in there.

We started the investigation by joining together to protect ourselves whilst within the house and grounds.

We set about getting base readings, and exploring the layout of the house, which consists of the ground floor and two upper levels.

During the investigation we found the most active rooms to be the main bedroom on the third floor, and the bar room on the ground floor.

Using night vision cameras, we captured many shooting orbs and light anomalies in the rooms.

Most of these shooting orbs and light anomalies seemed to be more active when calling out for any spirits which might be present in the room with us.

We split up into groups.  Each group took a room on each floor, and changing around throughout the evening and early hours of the morning.

Between times we held a séance, at different intervals with the Ouija board.

The first ten minutes nothing happened.  Then the glass started to move, and we found out that it was a young boy of six years old.  We also discovered some names of some of the spirits grounded within this area.  Later we had more response to other spirits coming through.  We eventually found out that there were some good spirits and two of which came across as bad spirits. One who actually masked himself as being some other spirit presumably to mislead us?

The last séance at around 05.00am proved very interesting, as we were to discover that there was a twist to the events from the Ouija board, that we were led to believe earlier on It seemed that after we used the Ouija board the house got more active, as we were getting more response to questions when asked in the bar area and some of the bedrooms.

To conclude; the young lad was being looked after by a soldier from the 1600s.

The master of the house from the 1800s had a guilt feeling that he had an affair with one of the maids who is now with child.  His wife found out and must have hounded this maid until she hung herself from a beam in the main bedroom.  Out of the two bad spirits we only got one name, and he was a monk who apparently had murdered others while residing at this house.

The names of these spirits have been omitted for obvious reasons.
