We were invited to the Rose and Crown to carry out a paranormal investigation, following reports from staff that they felt that they were being watched by a shadowy figure in the balcony area above the restaurant. This balcony is a fairly new feature in this 17th century building. This area is part of the old barn that was part of the original building. Back in the early days the upper floor was used as living quarters and the ground floor housed their animals.
Our first impression when we arrived was of a calm friendly atmosphere.
Yet there seems to be an onlooker who has made its presents felt.
Having set up a night vision camera in the bar, we headed for the restaurant where we all settled down. It wasn’t long when Claire sensed there was a presence above us on the balcony. There were a few small flashing light anomalies in that area. There was plenty of what looked like shadows moving about up there but nothing we could capture on camera as evidence. Throughout the next hour we were getting responses to questions with taps and knocks from within the room.
Coffee break and a discussion on what we had experienced so far.
We returned to the bar, where it was decided we would try a séance. Four of the group sat around the table and called for any spirits to communicate with us through the glass. The glass moved in response to questions using a yes or no answer. It was a male spirit who came through. He did indicate that there were three spirits present in the building. All went quiet for a few minutes, and then the glass began to move with more energy this time. On first impression it didn’t seem to be the same spirit that had first come through. We were not able to clarify who it was or why it was here, though we did establish it was not related to any previous owners or knew any of us. It seemed to get more and more agitated to questions by just revolving the glass round and round the table. At this point it was decided to close the séance down and let the spirits return to wherever they came from.
It was a very good night and it was concluded that there is nothing nasty lurking in the shadows, just the spirits being as curious where they are, as we are in life.
We would like to thank our host Jan and daughter Allison who accompanied us throughout the investigation.
The photos are of this shadowy figure which seems to be within the rafters. What you are looking at is the reflection in the large mirror on the balcony
