Spirits
from the passed
life
Our investigation started on the stairway. The temperature here dropped dramatically from 13 centigrade to 8 centigrade as Claire picked up on the name Fredrick, Fredrick Isles.
Mary also came through with the names of Mavis and Ethel Johnson, also the year of 1891 which had some significance to the findings.
Several orbs were captured on the stairway at this time. We asked for the spirits to try to communicate with us, and were rewarded with taping sounds around this area.
We then held a vigil in the room top left of the stairway. This room we found to be very active.
We did get the feeling that children were present more so than adults.
While creating an atmosphere of fun and happiness and singing nursery rhymes like ring a ring of roses etc, there seemed to be more orbs captured (see photo of Jean covered in orbs)and a feeling of cool air around your legs as though the children were running around playing with us.
The ground floors were not as active, but we did capture some quite large orbs in the front of what was the shop area.
In the rooms to the rear of the ground floor area the names of Samuel and Gordon were very strong, there was also a strong smell of horses and leather. It is possible that the rear of the building was used as stables, or a rear delivery entrance.
We set up a table with a glass to try to connect with the spirits of the house.
There was movement from the glass as questions were asked, not strong but a good response.
We were pleased to learn that the spirits of the house were very happy to stay there
But would they like the renovations that were currently in progress?
Possibly a return visit at some later date would establish that.
An Old Shop in Berkeley Gloucestershire
The town of Berkeley is located in the county of Gloucestershire and is situated about five miles west of Dursley and eighteen southwest of Gloucester, and northeast of Bristol. It was chartered by King Edward I to be governed by a mayor and alderman, but the corporation was annulled in 1885. The place confers the title of Earl and Baron on the Berkeley family. The manor embraces nearly thirty parishes and is one of the largest in England; it was given by William the Conqueror to Roger de Berkeley, Lord of Dursley. An invitation via a close friend to investigate strange happenings an old shop in the village of Berkeley
Unexplained odd noises unrelated to the structure of the building,
workmen doing renovations have had their tools go missing only to find them in another room..
Strange lights flickered as dusk approached. Nothing suggested it was unfriendly but unexplainable.
The gbhw group were invited to carry out an investigation to try to unravel these strange happenings.
We arrived at the premises one evening in October, on first glance the shop didn’t look to be very large from the outside, but we were pleasantly surprised as we were shown around the interior of the building.
The ground floor was once used as a shop, four rooms and corridors for access to each of the ground floor rooms. The stair case leading to the first floor was very grand with wooden steps and sweeping hand rails, at the top leading onto another flight leading the rooms to the left and right.
Along the corridor to the right there were three rooms, to the left there was a large room and another small room, with with another small door leading up narrow twisting stairs leading to an attic.
