An invitation from Dave Bartlett took us to the village of Lacock in Wiltshire

This unspoilt village stands at the gates of  Lacock Abbey
Where there had been a settlement there before the Saxon times
The planned village was established for the estate workers of the Abbey in the 13th century
The Apothecary Shop
Locally known as Ye Olde Shoppe was once occupied by the Barton family.
Then from late 18th century through to the 19th century it was occupied by the Latham family, who’s occupation at the time was a bakery and grocery shop.

We met Dave at the shop on Saturday evening
He showed us around this lovely old building that consisted of four levels.  The ground floors were on different levels, not to mention the winding narrow stairs to the upper floors and attic area.  There is also a small cellar, and outside yard where there is still evidence of the old doors and stairways to the building, where more than one family  might have lived and worked
We started our investigation in the highest point of the house.
The attic felt full of energy right from the word go.  We made ourselves comfortable, just sitting there quiet for a time to get accustomed to the darkness.
We called for any spirits within this room to come forward, and were rewarded with some light anomalies.  And a strange mist that started to develop in one corner of the room, then disappeared as quickly as it had appeared.
The names of Grace, Sissy, Albert and a Bertram were brought forward by our group mediums.
We later moved down to the next level.  There is a trap door in the  floor and an ancient pulley wheel that was used to pull the bags of flour up to that level for storage for the bread making that took place there.
This room had  a quite different feeling to it.  We felt uneasy, you felt as though our head was swimming with the sense that you were falling through a void.  It took all your will power to keep control and not to just sink down to the floor. A most strange feeling, and you also felt sick in the stomach.  Yet once we left that room we all felt fine, though nothing else happened there, no lights or communication with any spirits were felt.
Perhaps there needs more research carried out on this level of the building

The ground floor is the hub of the building
The bread was baked in the ovens at the rear end of the house for sale in the shop as well as everyday grocery's.
It was not only local trade, but also passing trade as this was the main route to London in those days.
We did catch a few orbs one of which is clearly seen in front of the old oven.
While sitting in an adjoining small room, Claire asked if there were any cats here? As she had just seen a black cat run passed the door to the stairs.  Dave explained that there was no cat in, or around in the building.
We ventured outside into the back yard.  It was just like walking back in time, cobblestones and old stairways leading to doors that no longer go anywhere except to the room we had just left.
Clair immediately said she could see men sitting on the stone stairs dressed in old fashioned clothing  watching the women doing their washing in the yard, there were also children running around.
She said it was like the  hub of several different families, all using the same back space of the house.  The photo below shows an orb on the stair rails, there are also some other smaller orbs captured out side in the yard.

We decided to go back inside to give the attic another try.  This time David came with us.
We sat in complete darkness for a while to let things settle down.  We asked if there was any one that would like to make contact with us?   David then proceeded to make conversation with a person by the name of  Roger, who was looking for Mary.  Roger didn’t stay very long, he disappeared, as Dave described as though he melted down through the floor.
Disappointed we returned to the small room below.
We tried to call spirits through with the aid of a glass on the table.  It did start to vibrate but nothing came of it, but as we took our fingers off the glass, Claire had this overwhelming feeling of sadness and felt very tearful, she could not stop herself from crying or give a reason why she felt that way?
But David thinks that Claire looks like the Mary that Roger (who came through in attic) was looking for.
Perhaps we will find out the next time we visit this old shop.
We have to go back there as there are lots of unanswered questions that we have to ask the spirits.

We would  like to thank David Bartlett for organising this venue for us and also thank the owners of the shop for allowing us to carry out this investigation
